About Us
Security Builders Supply (SBS) has served the Greater Chicagoland area for over 50 years. We are a reliable source for Hollow Metal Doors and Frames, Architectural Wood Doors, and Commercial Door Hardware with over 200+ years of collective experience on staff. SBS is a brand of APTURA Group.
1967
Security Builders Supply (SBS) was founded in 1967 by Security Lumber as its commercial hardware and door division.
Soon, SBS grew to be one of the leading suppliers in Illinois, with two locations in Oswego and Rockford.
2020
On April 17, 2020, SBS was acquired by Indianapolis-based CIH, a leader in Division 8, 10, and 28 products and solutions.
2021
CIH and H&G/Schultz Door, 100% employee-owned distributors of commercial doors, door frames, and architectural hardware, announced the formation of APTURA Group, Inc. (“APTURA”), an employee-owned holding company. The holding company was formed to align operating assets in the respective markets, increase operational flexibility, and grow product and service offerings in the expanded geographical areas. With this formation, SBS became a fully supported brand under APTURA Group serving the Illinois and Florida markets.
With the backing of our new family, SBS will be leveraging enhanced capabilities while still maintaining the excellent service our customers have come to expect.
